THE CASTLE TODAY

Today, tours are taken throughout the castle. 'Switzerlands most historic visited monument'  has now been listed as Chateau De Chillon. Chateau De Chillon has been used for many things throughout the years. It has been used as a prison, a storage space and as housing. However, today it is only used as a tourist attraction. Its use changed when the cantonal period took over. Since then it has become national property. When the castle became national property the castle was in fairly good shape. Due to this, no buildings were replaced. However, in the 19th century minor restoration work began.
